She was born in Berlin in 1976, where she also studied law. She gained her first journalistic experience in the local newsroom of the "tageszeitung" (taz). After passing her state law exam, she trained at the Berlin School of Journalism, completing internships in Berlin, Hamburg, and New York. Her first permanent position took her to American journalism: she worked for two years as a legal reporter at the Bloomberg news agency in Frankfurt. In May 2005, she joined the business section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.). In April 2014, she moved to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (F.A.Z. Sunday edition). She is a co-author of the non-fiction book "Wer hat an der Uhr dreht?" (Who Turned the Clock Back?) and a regular host of the F.A.Z. podcast for Germany. Since August 2020, she has worked as a business correspondent in Berlin.
